Social Work is very much close to my heart and offers me the opportunity to create long lasting and impactful connections with individuals from all walks of life. I pride my work ethic on compassion, inclusivity, transparency and empowerment, always ensuring a safe, non-judgemental and trustworthy space is available for my clients’ concerns to be acknowledged and validated. Oftentimes the individuals and families that I cross paths with are vulnerable, anxious and unsure of what to do; so it’s my job to make sure their voices are heard and that they know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. That being said, I rarely have the solution to problems that are caused by injustices, disadvantage or hardship but I am equipped to challenge the inequalities and the red tape that is designed to disempower those who are vulnerable and or marginalised. I have extensive knowledge of the hardship and difficulties individuals and families face in the current housing market, whether that be private rentals or applying for Social Housing. I started my Social Work career as a Crisis Support Worker where I was confronted with the extreme level of homelessness on the Gold Coast and how it can affect those from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Housing is a passion of mine and so far every client I’ve supported whether it be with evictions, applying for rental properties, advocating for Department of Housing or writing numerous support letters for applications, I always ensure to make it known that I will advocate for my clients at all costs.
