About Lorena Sanchez

I am passionate about innovation and circularity in food systems, with a particular interest in fostering partnerships and collaborations across different actors. Expert on alternative proteins with over 9 years of experience in the agrifood industry. I have focused on the development of novel ingredients and products that are nutritious, healthy and sustainable. Being Mexican and French, I appreciate international environments and have a strong multicultural adaptability. There are a couple of topics that I am very keen on, and that I would love to further develop: 1) Diet diversification, finding synergies between novel and conventional ingredients (ex. proteins) to have diets that make sense in terms of nutrition, health, sustainability (but also economically and culturally adapted). 2) All the innovation on new ways to produce ingredients: novel protein sources, precision fermentation, molecular farming. The concept of Food as medicine is also very appealing for me since it can have a profound effect on public health.
