Background
About Lorenzo Cingolani
Lorenzo Cingolani graduated in Molecular Biology at the University of Pisa in 1998. For his PhD, he joined the department of Prof. Walter Stuehmer at the Max-Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine, Goettingen, where he investigated the developmental regulation of calcium-activated potassium channels in the rodent central nervous system. For these studies, he received a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2002. He then worked with Dr. Yukiko Goda as postdoctoral fellow at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology (University College London). There, he studied the relationship between synaptic structure and function, uncovering the role of cell adhesion molecules in homeostatic synaptic plasticity. Since 2012, he is an independent investigator at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).
