About Lorenzo Tei

Prof. Lorenzo Tei is Full Professor in Organic Chemistry (SSD: CHIM 06) at the Department of Scienze ed Innovazione Tecnologica (DiSIT), Università del Piemonte Orientale. He is responsible for the Organic Chemistry section of the "Chemprobes" Group of the University of Piemonte Orientale and he is part of the Centre for Molecular Imaging of the University of Torino. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of imaging agents and he has participated in several European initiatives (COST Actions D18, D38 and TD1004); European Master in Molecular Imaging (EMMI):"Probes and Models for Imaging Diseases and Therapy"(2012-2013) and "Design, Synthesis and Validation of Imaging Probes"(2009-2011); European Networks of Excellence: “European Molecular Imaging Laboratories - EMIL” (2004-2009); “Diagnostic Molecular Imaging DiMI” (2005-2010); MEDITRANS: Targeted Delivery of Nanomedicine (2006-2011). From January 2015 to February 2017 he spent 15 months as A. Von Humboldt Fellow for Experienced Researchers at Klinikum Rechts der Isar, Technical University Munich with Prof. M. Schwaiger. Research interests: 1. Synthesis of polydentate ligands for metal-based probes for clinical diagnostic and therapy 2. Optimized synthesis of new chelators for efficient radiometals labelling 3. Multimodal probes for molecular imaging applications 4. Functionalized nanosystems for application in diagnosis and therapy 5. NMR relaxometric characterization of paramagnetic agents 25 oral and several poster presentations at international and national conferences; invited to take 9 seminars in foreign universities. Teacher of Ligand synthesis and functionalization, Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis and Bioconjugation techniques for the "European Master in Molecular Imaging and for the Technological Training Platform 2 of EMIL “Imaging Probes Preparation” (5 editions 2005-2009). Author of 155 peer-reviewed publications (H-index=38; ca. 5100 citations), 9 patents and 3 book chapters on Molecular Imaging and Contrast enhancing agents. Supervisor of 7 PhD students in Chemical Sciences. Recent projects: i) PRIN 2022 Design of paramagnetic metal complexes for improved MRI-guided drug-release applications” - 2023-25 ii) Bracco Imaging S.p.A: PhD position: Synthesis of chelators and probes optimized for the labelling with radiometals and for theranostic applications (2023-26). PRISMAP project (call 2023-1): In vitro and in vivo validation of new chelators for Ac-225 targeted alpha-therapy – 2023.
