About Loreta Murphy

Loreta Murphy is a Registered Nurse who has specialised in the field of neurosciences. Loreta's career has been in the area of health care and services for approximately 35 years but has focused extensively in the study of neurological abnormalities -Specialising in cerebral tumours, haematomas, cerebral abscess, cerebral vessel malformations, Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injuries. Previously she has held management positions in both public and private hospitals across two states of Australia. Loreta has been dedicated to the principles of holistic care and knows this is best achieved through professional, collaborative, multi-disciplinary approaches which are innovative and inclusive. Care of patients; team management or project work success is the result of trust, high standards and ethical relationships. She is committed to excellence in the delivery of health services and in valuing the authenticity of individuals be they patients; families or colleagues. Loreta is dedicated to ongoing education and to challenge traditional approaches where best practice demands contemporary improvements. Recent projects include the use of mid-line intravenous catheters for Subarachnoid haemorrhage patients. Loreta has a special interests in concussion in sport, particularly for amateur football codes, and is an enthusiastic presenter on the topic. Currently she is undertaking a PhD at Notre Dame University
