Background
About Lori Bryden
With over 37 years of experience in education, I am a curriculum developer and special educator who is passionate about inclusion and equity for all learners. I hold a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialist in Special Education, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instructional Design from Acadia University, a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University. I am an executive member with the Ontario Council of Special Educators and a Director for Canadians for Properly Built Homes. Currently, I work as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Critical Literacies at Queen's University, where I teach and mentor future educators on the science of reading and evidence-based practices. I also work as an Instructional Literacy Consultant at The Learning Bar, where I support school teams through the professional learning communities' approach and data-driven strategies to improve student reading outcomes. Additionally, I have extensive experience in creating and delivering courses on various topics for various organizations, including the Catholic Principals' Council of Ontario, Queen's University, Nelson Publishing, the Eastern Ontario Catholic Curriculum Cooperative, and the Ontario Ministry of Education. My most recent courses are on inclusion, and trauma-informed leadership. I enjoy networking with professionals who share my interests in curriculum design and development, reading development, leadership, inclusion, and trauma-informed approaches. I am always eager to learn from others who contribute to the advancement of education. I believe that all students can achieve, and I strive to empower educators with the knowledge and skills they need to make a positive difference in their classrooms and communities.
