About Lori Derksen

Superman was my obsession as a little girl. A simple farm kid with kind and loving parents who became a superhero. Someone who people looked up to. Invincible yet with a weakness. Even with the ability to fly, x-ray vision, body made of steel, he had one main focus, to save and help those around him. Today, without all the super hero abilities, I ultimately have the same goal as Superman; I want to help those around me. Throughout the last 25 years of my career, I continue to do work to accomplish that goal while raising over $13 million dollars resulting in key contributions to emergency medical care, medical research, community programming and medical equipment. Most recently, I spent almost four years working at STARS Air Ambulance as Events Manager/Development Officer Events. Responsible for every aspect of STARS Manitoba Internal events; Rescue on the Island, Critical Care on the Air Radiothon - Rural, Winnipeg and Westman along with many external events, I have developed and grown both internal and external event programs while contributing to the over running of the Manitoba Foundation. A highlight of my career was my time at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. While acting as Sponsorship Manager, I was able to build and establish positive, professional long term partnerships with staff, suppliers, clients and volunteers throughout Canada.
