Background
About Lori Klaski
In my 18 years as a cardiology/electrophysiology physician assistant, I have had various (and sometimes overlapping) roles. I have worked clinically for 17 of my 18 years, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have specialized in cardiac device management as well as electrophysiologic monitoring. I have held clinical managerial roles as well as owning and operating my own business. My business comprised of managing cardiac device clinics and remote monitoring of cardiac devices for various cardiology/EP practices in the Phoenix, AZ area. Through my various professional roles, I have developed extensive expertise in EKG/telemetry/EGMs, evaluation and treatment of cardiology/EP patients, building and operating device clinics, managing cardiac devices (including remote monitoring), managing people, and in education of others. I am currently working in an industry position; specifically, as a Senior Medical Safety Specialist for the Cardiac Diagnostics branch of Boston Scientific (previously Preventice Services). I am the primary Medical Safety team member, along with our supervising electrophysiologist, that provides medical oversight to the Houston-based independent diagnostic testing facility. This houses the active monitoring and report construction for holter and event monitors. Much of my current role was self-developed through my own initiative. It has comprised:*Leveraging of my past experience as a healthcare provider, a device clinic specialist, and as a past owner/operator of a remote monitoring business to work collaboratively with different teams/departments to accomplish various initiatives *Medical investigation for identification of errors and assistance with mitigation measures to prevent recurrence *Expert EKG interpretation/electrophysiological assistance with difficult or challenging rhythms *Healthcare provider level guidance for rhythm management with potential clinical implications in mind *Analysis of the existing processes/procedures of rhythm adjudication and clinician notification to identify and address potential patient safety risks *Much time spent coaching EKG technicians, collaborating with the clinical education team, and in formal instruction for the technicians *Coordination of supervising physician oversight of the lab’s day to day functions, as well as overarching oversight of the qualifications and ongoing training of technicians *Support with customer complaint/escalation calls *Assistance for CAPAs/NCEPs *Assistance with various quality control measures and initiatives
