Background
About Lori Rose
Since March 2019 I have been working as a Neurology nurse at Intermountain Medical Center. I completed the Nurse Residency Program in February 2020. Since then I’ve learned how to care for not only my patient’s medical conditions, but also how to care for them as a person while maintaining as much dignity of their as possible and advancing nursing skills and gaining knowledge. A few of my characteristics that would add value to the company are attention to detail, prioritization, quick learner, organization, motivated, adaptable, and always being cognizant of patient safety. I have learned how to proficiently communicate with the patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team. I always apply myself to the best of my ability. Even though I do not currently have a leadership position at Intermountain, I take pride in myself knowing that my coworkers often approach me for advice, assistance, or general guidance. My goals are to strive to be a better role model to those around me. Although it's difficult when there's so much going on, I always try to be present when I am talking to someone. It lets them know I am there to listen and they are important to me. I try to maintain an open body posture and give eye contact. I try to finish one task before starting another to increase productivity. I have learned the value of slowing down to reduce the chance of mistakes, and also to show the patient that I'm not trying to leave their room in record time. I think most people appreciate when you spend more time with them. It makes them feel important. Learning how to manage time better and realizing that some stress is good have been cardinal lesson in my life. It's easy to become overwhelmed when there are so many tasks at hand, but letting the right amount of stress be present can help you stay and track an even provide forward momentum. Having humility and knowing you can't do everything yourself and won't know everything either. I am a fan of seeking help when I need it. I like to ask many people their different professional views so that I can not only get to know them better, but also gain insight to how successful people around me think.
