About Lori Stevenson

I began my journey with the province of Manitoba as a clerk with the department of Natural Resources in 1992. It was at this time I became obsessively compulsive about all things associated with Crown land history, administration and management. Since then, I have been fortunate to be presented with numerous opportunities to expand my education and skills and take on progressively responsible assignments. This process has allowed me to work at a senior clerk then senior manager level in the branch most notably in the area of Treaty Land Entitlement agreement implementation and subsequently at the senior leadership level in the Lands Branch (2012), Wildlife and Fisheries Branch, Water Stewardship and Biodiversity Division (included Forestry and Peatlands), and Agriculture and Ecosystems Branch. I am proud and respectful of the role of the public service. My need to solve puzzles and appetite to gain an understanding of several interrelated pieces of legislation and regulations has been key in my development. I have often thought about government as a very large machine and laws and regulatory tools as its manual. Like any machine new models are always being developed and with that their manual must be updated. I dislike duplication in process and am committed to leading change. In 2022 I was provided with the opportunity to expand my portfolio into the mining, oil and gas sector. This opportunity has been very rewarding and I have had an opportunity to leverage the skills I have developed over time. I now look forward to advancing the government’s mandate and providing supports to staff to ensure success as I continue on my journey as ADM of the new Resource Development Division, in the department of Economic Development Investment and Trade. Ultimately to me, it is about integrity in the process and respect and understanding for the people you work with and the people your work may touch.
