About Lorie Garrison

Lorie has devoted her professional career to education, the military, and philanthropy. Most recently she served as the Executive Director of the Armed Services YMCA of Oklahoma. Prior to that, she held the position of Director of Development at Cameron University in Lawton, OK. She has served as the coordinator of the Reach Higher program, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Adult Degree Completion initiative. She served 4 yrs as CU's military liaison and 5 yrs as CU's liaison for the Department of Correction’s education system. Lorie’s professional affiliations are extensive. Most notably, she is a subject matter presenter for both the Council of College and Military Educators and the Learning Resources Network, the world’s largest association in continuing education and lifelong learning. She has been a spokesperson for the OSRHE on the subject of appreciative advising, student advisement, marketing, branding, degree completion, career counseling, and adult learning. She serves on numerous advisory committees in the state. She was appointed as the OSRHE Chancellor’s representative on Governor Fallon's 'Complete College America' initiative, representing higher education in the state of Oklahoma. She is considered a subject matter expert on student advising, military career counseling, continuing education, program development, and adult learning. She is a graduate of the Army’s esteemed ROTC Leadership Training Course, US Army Command, Ft. Knox, KY. Prior to moving to the US, she served as the Director of Educational Programs for Maersk-Sealand of Copenhagen, Denmark, based out of Pusan, South Korea. She is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Lawton Fort Sill and went on to serve as an executive member on the board of directors. In her spare time, she volunteers with several charities in SWOK. In her most recent appointments, she serves as the VP of the Elgin Schools Foundation Board of Directors and on the board of directors for the United Way of SW Oklahoma.
