Background
About Lorraine E. Scott
My research focuses on understanding the interactions between social identities and social context. To this end, I investigate the interconnectedness between identity-related stress, socialization, social networks, health, and sociodemographic factors, and how these factors simultaneously impact health and well-being. In my work, I take an interdisciplinary and mixed-methods approach to answer questions such as “How can we create spaces that holistically serve students, employees, and families?” and “How can we understand the far-reaching impacts of identity-related stressors while also working to eradicate said stressors?”. My work spans across labor, housing, homelessness, education, and health markets. Other experience: I have experience with project and team management, DEIJL research, advocacy, and consulting. My written proposals have yielded over $80K in funding for the equitable treatment and professional development of racially minoritized individuals across my current institution.
