Just over 7 years ago I almost died after having a lung removed. This was a challenging time and during recovery, the seeds were sown for the Ageing R-Evolution Program. None of us are immortal and how by being informed of one's health choices, the fear component and impact on the family is greatly reduced as we approach our Elder years. This program is the culmination of a lifetime of service within the community. It is heart-based and offered to both educate and empower our Elders around the choices available to them and also addresses coming to a place of inner peace by releasing old regrets. The Ageing R-Evolution Program offers the opportunity for elderly participants or those with declining health issues, inclusive of family and carers, to come together in a supported, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore and be heard about their end of life health pathway choices. The Program introduces the government Advance Care Program and the Advance Health Directive, an explanation of the Power of Attorney and of Enduring Power of Guardianship, the naming of a significant other, and the value of writing a will. We also address the reality that every life has meaning and value regardless of the life challenges experienced and often because of them. Included is simple guidance of how to make peace with the past to whatever degree is chosen, through embracing the inner healing potential of self-acceptance and kindness to self. Participants are encouraged to continue engagement within the community for it is widely accepted that in doing so one maintains a sense of belonging which in turn supports an inner state of wellbeing.
