About Lorrie Rand

Lorrie Rand is co-founder of Habit Studio, a Halifax, Nova Scotia design practice focused on sustainable houses that nurture the senses. Lorrie has twenty years experience in residential design and is an enthusiastic collaborator on larger projects. She is proud to have worked with Anne Sinclair Architects designing the recently completed Halifax Hospice, a notable achievement as the first residential Hospice built in Nova Scotia and because it was designed by an all woman architectural team. Lorrie is committed to promoting high performance building to clients and colleagues. She serves on the national board of directors for Passive Buildings Canada and is the founder of the Passivists, a group of designers and builders focused on increasing the number of Passive House projects in Nova Scotia. Lorrie is a Certified Passive House Designer and has a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies from the Dalhousie University School of Architecture. She spends her off time playing in her garden and at the dog park and at the hockey rink.
