General ** I have worked for 20+ years in various positions, IT and administrative, in the post-secondary sector. The majority of my ID experience is what I would consider informal. Using questions that I found were regularly asked by faculty, I have had to analyze and identify training needs regarding the LMS. In some cases, this meant determining whether a one or two-page job aid, a video, or an individual or group session on a topic would be most beneficial. I also enjoy working with the faculty to find solutions that work for their content and the learners. My ability to translate ‘tech talk’ has contributed to the positive relationships I have established with faculty.** Summary of My ID Philosophy ** I love puzzles! I see instructional design as a puzzle, it is about having a vision of the final product; finding the right pieces and putting them together. In ID, it is the action of considering relevant learning theories, the learners, design principles, and technologies and selecting and using an appropriate design method to form the final picture. Even though it seems straightforward and linear the key to success is to learn from past project experiences, remain flexible and focus on the current unique project. The work is just beginning, but the learning never ends and I am committed to continuing my growth in the field of instructional design. My philosophy is built on knowledge gained in the Graduate Diploma in Instructional Design and my life experience.
