About Lou Danner

I had a great 32-year Military career where I spent my last 8 years as a Colonel in the US Air Force and Air National Guard, leading individuals and managing programs at some of the highest levels. I've had a wonderful opportunity to command at six different bases overseas and here in the US enabling me to have a diverse global perspective leading personnel from the joint services as well as other coalition countries around the world. Leading units and commanding bases has given me an outstanding depth and breadth of experience in supporting efforts of those I served with a common goal of building, maintaining, and improving infrastructure needed to support around the clock flying operations without interruption. This infrastructure includes everything from runway construction to building maintenance and construction to communication and computer systems to food service and billeting operations. I take great pleasure in building teams of individuals with extremely diverse backgrounds to strive toward mutually established goals. In these endeavors, I have been recognized by the Air Force—receiving several Bronze Star Medals in combat, the USAF Lance P. Sijan Senior Leadership Award, and have been recognized as Air Mobility Command's foremost expert in combat readiness operations. These recognitions have led to positions at the national level as Chairman, Support Group Commanders Council and Lead Inspector for Operational Readiness Inspections. After serving 30+ years in the military and 5 years in local government, I am blessed to be able to utilize my training and global experience in the community I reside, Knoxville, Tennessee. Upon military retirement I returned to school and earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA and have been able to put this eclectic background to work in serving the homeless population at Knox Area Rescue Ministries. After fantastic opportunities both as a counseling intern and as the Manager of Care Coordination at KARM for the past few years, I am now blessed to serve as a Masters Clinical Counselor- Military Services for Helen Ross McNabb, a non-profit organization doing fantastic work here in Knoxville, Tennessee!
