About Louis Fox

I am a psychologist with a specialism in patient-reported outcome measures and behavioural interventions in the context of cancer. After completing a PhD in the development of a behavioural intervention to support physical activity adoption in men with prostate cancer, I have continued work within the industrious Transforming cancer OUtcomes through Research (TOUR) group at King's College London. The TOUR group undertakes a diverse set of research activities in the translational sphere, including epidemiological work with real world data, delivery of interventional RCTs, and the development of patient-reported outcome measures using mixed methods approaches. I lead on a portfolio of primary research studies to develop patient-reported outcome measures, mostly in collaboration with the Quality of Life Group of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). In addition to several studies in which our group plays a pivotal role in co-ordinating the UK's multi-site contribution to these studies, I am the primary lead on three studies examining patients receiving immunotherapy, patients in the survivorship phase of their experience, and stratified care for patients with testicular cancer who are in medium- to long-term follow up following treatment. To deliver culturally relevant transnational work such as this requires leveraging extensive international collaborative networks which I have played a central role in cultivating, both inside and outside of the UK and Europe, particularly across the MENA region but also beyond. I have also undertaken investigative work in conjunction with global oncology colleagues to make strategic recommendations for cancer research priorities in resource constrained regions in a contemporary post-COVID funding landscape. My colleagues and I take pride in producing work which is patient-centred and of real-world relevance, working with patient and clinician communities, real world evidence, and holistic qualitative approaches to achieve this. As someone with both a background in qualitative and mixed methods, epidemiology, and implementation approaches, I am trained to fulfil objectives to deliver real-world healthcare impacts.
