About Louis Sanchez

Seasoned education professional with over a decade of experience in higher education and K–12 settings, with a strong track record in student engagement, retention, and holistic support. I have served in leadership roles as a Director of Residence Life, HEOP Program Director, and most recently, as the Community School Director at PS14x – Senator John Calandra School in the Bronx, where I lead cross-sector efforts to reduce barriers to learning and expand opportunities for students and families. In my current role, I coordinate student and family support services, manage enrichment programming, lead attendance and enrollment strategies, and build strategic partnerships with community-based organizations. I believe schools thrive when families, educators, and community stakeholders are deeply engaged in the success of every child. Previously, I served as Director of HEOP and the Mott Street Scholarship Program at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, supporting students impacted by foster care and housing insecurity. My work focused on academic advising, financial aid guidance, advocacy, and developing high-impact retention initiatives for underrepresented students. I bring expertise in program design, crisis management, compliance, and student leadership development, with additional experience in teaching, public speaking, and event coordination. I hold a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Philosophy and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and remain deeply committed to advancing educational access, equity, and community empowerment.
