About Loukas Spanos
Loukas Spanos is an economist (BA, University of Athens) and holds two MSc degrees: an MSc in Economic Policy & Applied Economic from the University of Athens and an MSc in Climate Crisis & ICT from the University of Piraeus. He is also an accredited mediator, holding the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing and the GARP Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Certificate. He currently serves as ESG Manager at Qualco Group, overseeing the Group’s sustainability strategy and ESG integration. Previously, he was Director of the Financial Mediation Center at the Hellenic Financial Ombudsman and Senior Advisor to the Chair of the Board of the National Bank of Greece, responsible for CSR and sustainability initiatives. In this role, he developed act4greece, the first CSR crowdfunding platform in Greece. He brings over eight years of experience in senior governmental and public affairs roles, with substantial policy-making exposure. He has served as Head of the Office of the Minister of Labor (2010–2011) and Head of the Office of the Minister of Development (2009–2010), leading negotiations with the EC–ECB–IMF troika and contributing to key structural reforms and legislation. Loukas has also been a member of the Expert Committee of the Athens Exchange for the implementation of the European Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR), and a Working Expert Group that developed a corporate governance compliance methodology for Greek listed companies. His research focuses on corporate governance, CSR, and crowdfunding, and he has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including a chapter to the edited volume "Corporate Responsibility and Digital Communities” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018). He has taught finance and corporate governance courses at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), the University of Athens, and the National Technical University of Athens. He is also a fellow of the Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff) of the Tokyo Foundation.
