Background
About Luca bon
I have over a decade of experience in the vocational training and hospitality industry, where I’ve focused on building practical, impactful training programs. Recently, I’ve been working with the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), leading the development of the Certificate in Commercial Cookery for Papua New Guinea. This has involved a lot of hands-on work: from collaborating with industry experts and educational bodies to organizing and running consultations with key players in the hospitality sector. I’m passionate about making sure training is relevant, engaging, and accessible, helping both learners and industries thrive. In the past, I have also contributed to the development of skill sets for domestic students and have run these programs as a trainer in Commercial Cookery. While I have enjoyed my role as a trainer, I find myself drawn to a more creative approach to work, seeking new challenges and opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects.Key Skills & Experience:Curriculum Development: I led the development of the Certificate in Commercial Cookery for the Papua New Guinea National Training Package. My main focus was making sure the training met real industry demands and helped learners get ready for successful careers in hospitality.Industry Engagement: I organised and facilitated consultations with hospitality leaders, chefs, and other professionals in PNG. This involved getting valuable feedback from them and making sure their needs were clearly reflected in the training outcomes.Collaborative Project Work: I worked closely with a great mix of professionals, including government reps, industry experts, and educators, to develop and improve training content. A big part of my job was managing expectations, gathering feedback, and delivering quality results.Stakeholder Management: I kept in regular contact with stakeholders like the PNG Tourism and Hospitality Industry Skills Group (ISG), the National Skills Development Agency (NSDA), and DHERST. My role wasn’t just about developing training materials, but also about making sure they met the high standards these groups expected.
