About Luca Mantovanelli

I’m a biophysicist working at the interface of protein engineering, data infrastructure, and product development. At Portal Biotech, I lead projects that apply machine learning-based tools to protein and enzyme design, alongside enzyme engineering, kinetic studies, and the development of biological kits intended for external partners. My work spans experimental design, implementation, and deployment, with a focus on scalability, reproducibility, and cross-functional collaboration. I’ve also built end-to-end pipelines for data analysis and infrastructure to support faster, more reliable R&D. I bring a strong foundation from my PhD in Biophysics, with experience in single-molecule fluorescence microscopy, protein biochemistry, and custom analysis pipelines, enabling me to approach problems with both scientific depth and practical execution. I’m driven by impactful, translational science and enjoy shaping processes that make complex technologies more accessible and effective for both internal teams and external users.
