The combination of intellectual curiosity, opportunity and humility has provided me the fortune of working on a variety of mineralized systems across African and North American districts including: 1. Orogenic vein (Au)- Ontario, Canada 2. Shear hosted (Au)- Ontario, Canada 3. CRD (Ag, Pb, Zn)- BC, Canada 4. Porphyry (Cu, Au)- BC, Canada 5. Sediment-hosted stratabound (Cu)- Zambia, Africa. Intrusive related (Au, Cu)- Ivory Coast, West Africa I have seen the best results when so called “old school” techniques are married with new technologies, and not necessarily a school which is too heavily used on their own. New technologies cannot replace what the tradition geologist should be doing, but should rather supplement their applications. I have also found it vital to not pigeonhole dominantly core logging geologists to just that. It is crucial to draw on these geologists to feed into the 3D space and understand the nuance of the mineralized system in question. Another significant observation and principle is that the old adage, “people are a company’s biggest resource”, is absolutely true. An AOE may have undeniable potential for development, but if the team is lacking in attitude and passion, you may as well forget about trying to develop the geological understanding in any meaningful way.
