About Lucas Baier

I am a Research Associate at the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI), holding a M. Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Currently, I am exploring the potential of Machine Learning in the healthcare sector, with a focus on developing prototypical solutions. I acquired profound Machine Learning skills as well as an understanding of related business problems in multiple projects, e.g, in cooperation with ABB, where I successfully developed an approach on the topic of "Fault prediction of chemical processes". Today, I leverage my knowledge of topics like, e.g, dynamic time warping, classification algorithms, statistical performance measurements, to explore new fields of application. Currently, I am researching the application of advanced machine learning methods to improve work routines in the healthcare sector, e.g, reduce patients' waiting times. I am convinced that the application of modern quantitative methods has large, untapped potential in this area.
