About Lucas Esperanza

Lucas is a Los Angeles based filmmaker, theatre artist, and arts educator. He is dedicated to harnessing his passions in leadership, storytelling, and community engagement to empower and advocate for the resilience of underrepresented identities. He graduated from UC Irvine with a B.A. in Drama and a minor in Political Science. After graduating, he worked as a freelance Assistant Director and Stage Management Production Assistant on several shows with Tony Award winning regional theaters such as La Jolla Playhouse, Tectonic Theatre Project, South Coast Repertory, Center Theatre Group, and Cornerstone Theater Company. He was selected to be Seattle Repertory Theatre’s 2022-2023 Directing & Artistic Apprentice as part of the company’s Professional Arts Training Program. He was recently selected for Arts for LA’s 2025 ACTIVATE Emerging Arts Leaders program, a leadership development program that provides hands-on community organizing experience for the next generation of leaders. He currently serves as the Programs Associate with P.S. ARTS, a non-profit dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for children and youth by providing arts education in systemically under-resourced schools and communities. Outside of his work as an arts educator, he is committed to building and developing his craft as an emerging writer, director, producer and leader in the arts.
