About Lucas Simmons

I grew up immersed in business, learning firsthand from my family’s experience operating multiple businesses. This early exposure gave me a solid understanding of business operations, particularly in retail and several skilled trades industries where I have accumulated nearly 15 years of workforce experience. At Algonquin College, I studied business and served as the student representative to the chair of the Financial, Accounting and Legal Studies Department. In this role, I helped lead curriculum changes designed to introduce greater academic challenges and foster a stronger alumni network. Currently at Welch LLP, I work with a diverse client portfolio spanning skilled trades, manufacturing, and government compliance including engagements for Chiefs of Staff and Members of Parliament. My work includes helping clients transition to modern cloud-based bookkeeping and accounting systems, managing both personal and business tax for U.S. and Canadian agencies, and evaluating and implementing new technology into the firm’s software stack. I’m passionate about combining operational insight with technology-driven solutions to help businesses work smarter, grow stronger, and adapt to change as we grow together.
