About Lucca Ferrari

Motorsport has always been more than just a passion for me — it’s what shaped my entire path as an engineer. I’m a mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in high-performance systems, vehicle dynamics, and performance optimisation, both in the garage and at the track. During my time at UFTM, I spent three years with Taurus Racing in Formula SAE. I started out in the cooling system team and, over time, moved into the role of Powertrain Director. That meant managing everything from intake and exhaust to drivetrain and fuel systems. During this time, I competed in two national Formula SAE events (2018 and 2019), where I learnt a lot not just about engineering under pressure, but also about teamwork and race-day decision making. After that, I joined TRS Race Team in São Paulo, helping prepare track-focused builds and supporting events at Interlagos. I also took FuelTech courses focused on ECU calibration and engine tuning — diving deeper into the data and refining how I approach performance. Looking for more international experience, I worked with Nacional RT in the Formula Ford Zetec Irish Championship, and I’m currently studying Race Engineering at Università di Pavia. The course has helped me deepen my understanding of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and race data analysis — areas I’ve always been eager to explore more thoroughly. One of the most valuable aspects of the programme is the extensive trackside experience it offers at Vairano Proving Ground. There, I work directly on a FRECA car, applying classroom theory to real setups, telemetry analysis, tyre management, and qualifying and performance testing simulations in race conditions, on track. It’s the kind of environment where you’re constantly putting your skills to the test, refining your decisions lap by lap. I’m always driven by the details — the numbers behind performance, the feedback from the driver, and the small adjustments that make a big difference. I love working in high-pressure environments where engineering meets intuition, and I’m always open to connecting with others who live and breathe motorsport the same way I do.
