Background
About Lucia Panini
Since childhood, I have been captivated by the scent of paper, ink, and glue, losing myself among the Panini sticker-printing machines. My daddy, Franco Cosimo, instilled in me a deep love for rare books, and from a young age, I embraced the world of bibliophiles, where every page tells a story and every volume holds a fragment of eternity. For nearly two decades, I worked as an antiquarian book dealer. During the 1990s, I lived and worked in London, where I opened a small shop near Bond Street, specializing in consulting services for institutions and private collectors. Since 2007, along with my siblings, I have served on the board of directors of Franco Cosimo Panini Editore, a publishing house renowned for its art books (Mirabilia Italiae), facsimile editions of manuscripts (La Biblioteca Impossibile), children's literature (including Pimpa, Giulio Coniglio, and works by Hervé Tullet), as well as museum publishing and merchandising (Museo Egizio di Torino), and school stationery (including Comix, an internally developed brand and project since the 1990s). At the publishing house, I have curated remarkable projects, including reproductions of manuscripts and stunning period drama book props for movies. In 2017, we strengthened our path in Digital Humanities by acquiring Haltadefinizione, a tech company specializing in ultra-high-definition digitization, with a vast archive of gigapixel and 3D images, including the largest image ever created of Leonardo's Last Supper. In recent years, our commitment to Digital Humanities has grown through strategic partnerships and acquisitions of well-established companies in the field, such as Mida Digit, Hyperborea, and Memooria, leading to the creation of the Panini Cultura Group. This consortium offers a comprehensive ecosystem of services to support institutions in preserving and enhancing cultural heritage. Leveraging advanced technologies and innovative solutions, we cover the entire Digital Humanities process, from digitizing archives and cultural objects to file preservation and promotion through editorial products and interactive digital platforms. I am proud to be part of this group and am excited to contribute to the development and innovation of Digital Humanities.
