About Lucy Gardner

I am a Chartered Engineer with 17 years experience across a wide variety of large-scale rail and civil engineering projects. I have spent most of my career working in design management of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, dealing with complex decisions confidently and efficiently, to support the team in delivering high quality technical solutions. Most recently my roles have included Design Lead on EWR Central Section, Rail Systems Lead on Crossrail 2, Design Manager on the LU Metropolitan Line Extension, and Design Manager for HS2 Phase 1 Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot and Network Integrated Control Centre. I lead the Rail Engineering and Systems team in Arup’s Infrastructure Midlands. I have been lucky to get the opportunity to spend 3 years working for Arup in our Australian offices, as Assistant Design Manager on Sunbury Electrification Project (VIC) and Alignment Lead for Gold Coast Rapid Transit (QLD). Whilst in Australia I was awarded the RTSA (Railway Technical Society of Australasia) Young Railway Engineer of the Year award 2012. In 2016 I was named one of the 20 Most Inspirational Women in Rail.
