About Lucy Gibson

I am a communications specialist who has worked across the field in journalism, marketing and PR and event management. I qualified as a journalist from Cardiff University and worked for more than a decade on newspapers in the UK and Australia, covering news, sports, film and entertainment. During this time, I wore a number of hats, including news and features writer, sub-editor, section editor and film editor. As a publicist I have been responsible for implementing and executing media and PR campaigns for large-scale sporting and cultural events, and within the film industry for festivals, exhibitors and distributors. I have also led community and stakeholder communication campaigns for major arts events including The Giants (2015), which was experienced by an audience of 1.4 million, and Highway to Hell (2020), which was enjoyed by more than people. More recently I worked as an event manager and producer on special projects for Perth Festival including a series of short films showcasing the new $400m WA Museum Boola Bardip to international audiences and Projections at City of Lights, which opened the 2021 Festival; managed community relations and stakeholder communications for Perth Festival's 2022 opening event, which sadly was cancelled due to Covid; and spearheaded the publicity for the City of Melville's jam-packed 2021-2022 arts events program.
