About Lucy Gill

I am a recent graduate of James Madison College in Comparative Cultures and Politics. My education has equipped me with critical analysis skills in order to study the interactions between culture and politics. I've studied a variety of interactions between government and the public they represent related to land, education, cultural and ethnic conflicts, and various other aspects of public policy. I am interested in policy and advocacy related to education, land rights and accessibility, and the environment. My education and work history have prepared me to bring unique perspectives and approaches to facilitating communication between communities, organizations, and government. I have worked as a basketball coach, an assistant teacher in predominantly non-English speaking classrooms, a TaeKwonDo instructor, a shift manager in retail, an intern with the Lansing Refugee Development Center, and a public policy intern with the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. My experience as a student and working in a variety of roles required me to hone my communication and leadership skills in order to motivate myself and my teams to cooperate across language, cultural, and perceptual differences.
