I am the Founder of Vocabulous an innovative resource to aid targeted and explicit vocabulary teaching in KS2 and KS3 English lessons (9-14 year olds). Vocabulous uses Latin and Greek root words to teach word patterns. Students then use these patterns to work out the meaning of unknown words which share the same root. By learning that "scrip" means "write", students can work out what a "transcription" or "manuscript" are! I am proud to have been awarded funding from The SHINE Trust to produce Vocabulous, which is now in schools across the UK and further afield. We are looking to work with lots of primary schools this year and are excited to launch our new KS2 curriculum ready for September 2025! Before launching Vocabulous, I worked as an accountant in London and taught Latin and Classics at Bootham School and for York's Independent and State School Partnership (ISSP). I'm passionate about education and increasing opportunities for young people and know that Vocabulous can improve students' literacy by giving them the skills they need to expand their own vocabularies.
