About Lucy Henderson

I'm a community researcher and fundraiser who loves turning data into change. I'm currently finishing up my PhD looking at newcomer experience in amateur theatre - how newcomers find their place and sense of belonging. I've spent the last few years working with amazing organisations across Gloucestershire's VCSE sector, from animal sanctuaries to bereavement support. Whether I'm managing volunteers, running fundraising campaigns, or digging into research data, I'm always asking "how can we do this better for the people we're trying to help?" My background's a bit of a mix – I've got degrees in drama, performance science, and now community research, plus I've taught everyone from teenagers to adults looking for new careers. Turns out all these experiences have one thing in common: understanding what people actually need and finding creative ways to deliver it. Right now I'm at Winston's Wish helping with fundraising while wrapping up my research. I love connecting with other people who are passionate about making communities stronger and more inclusive. Always up for a chat about research methods, fundraising challenges, or how we can better support the people our work is meant to serve.
