About Lucy Martin

Currently, I attend the University of North Texas where I am studying to get a B.A. in Biology accompanied by a minor in Chemistry. Along with my schooling, I am hoping to get a medical sales position/internship so I can cultivate professional relationships and learn what it takes to make it in this field. Throughout my whole life, I have had a strong passion for helping others whether this was through volunteering or helping tutor fellow classmates who were struggling. This drive I have to assist others has led me to have an interest in the medical field. Medical sales professionals have the opportunity to positively impact people’s lives every day with the help of medicine and I would love to be a part of something like that. Though I am still in college, I have had many opportunities to work with doctors and work in environments in which I have applied my basic medical skills. These include-Working as a lifeguard and assistant pool manager at the Denton Natatorium Pool -Shadowing a dietician and doctor at the Decatur Wise Health Systems -Volunteering at the Arc of Denton County Church with adults with disabilities These opportunities have allowed me to apply my training and certification with Red Cross including BBP, oxygen, CPR and AED training. Also, I have been able to work with patients and watch interactions between a dialysis specialist, dietician, and their patients. I have also had the meaningful experience of working with adults with disabilities to better their social and life skills. I enjoyed all of these experiences and learned a lot from each one. Though all these opportunities have developed me as a person and taught me so much about what the field of medicine has to offer, I am always wanting to learn more and become a more well-rounded individual. With a position as a scribe, I believe that I will be able to apply my previously learned skills while learning more skills to apply in my future career in medicine.
