About Lucy McGee

With over six years of experience in legal education, I am a passionate and effective leader, dynamic teacher, and scholar at Appalachian School of Law (ASL). As the Dean of Experiential Learning, I oversee the development and implementation of innovative and engaging programs that prepare students for the practice of law. As the Director of Legal Writing, I supervise and mentor a team of faculty and staff who teach and support students in developing their legal writing and research skills. As an Assistant Professor of Law, I teach courses associated with our Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) Clinic, Externships, and legal writing. I research and present on topics related to experiential learning, legal education, and legal writing. I have multiple skills in legal writing, legal research, teaching, and career counseling, which I use to enhance the academic and professional success of my students and colleagues. In addition, through the development of the MLP Clinic, I added skills related to starting, staffing, and managing a small civil law firm serving clients in multiple jurisdictions. My mission is to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and diversity at ASL, and to contribute to the advancement of the legal profession and the public interest.
