About Lucy Schulyta

An emerging midwifery leader with a high standard of clinical practice providing care to women and families throughout the birth continuum (antenatal, labour, birth, postpartum). I’m passionate about physiological birth, empowering women and families to be self-determining in their care, and promoting midwife-led models as a form of primary healthcare - supported by an array of advanced midwifery skills including perineal suturing, full cephalocaudal exam of the newborn, and pertinent medical intervention and emergency response. I have experience in caseload midwifery, development of new service provision, working groups, service operating procedures, quality improvement activities, collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure optimal health outcomes, supporting the development of students and other midwives, providing guidance and managing workload within a team of midwives while promoting clinician’s autonomy.
