About Lucy Stephens

First and foremost, I have a genuine love of admin. I know that, to many people, it is just a way to pay the bills, but I love the order and looking at every tiny detail. Outside of work I am forever making lists and have colour-coordinated my bookshelf, sock drawer and even the dog’s toy basket – that didn’t last long. Long before I was an exercise professional I kept a spreadsheet of all of the yoga videos I did online, rating each for intensity and stretchability, and detailing which muscles were worked. And for the last 4 years I have kept track of the scores for Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials as I watch, because I’m faster than the TV score boards. Basically, I’m quite nerdy. In my current role I enjoy being an allrounder: when someone is upset about their poorly pet, I am the person that takes them to a side room and makes them a cup of tea. I am the extra pair of hands when a dog is wriggling around too much to have its nails cut. I am the person who will sift through enormous data sets to ensure our client database is in order. On a day-to-day basis I look after the diaries of two vets and three nurses, arrange surgeries, organise deliveries of medication, process the daily and weekly banking and process paperwork for insurance companies and referrals. I also get to hug puppies sometimes. I like to be busy and give myself a range of challenges, so alongside my administrative work I teach Pilates and run my own animal care business. Outside of work, my main passion is animals. My friends and family often joke that I prefer animals to people, which is only partially true. I am obsessed with my rescue dog, Beano. I also love horse riding, travelling, hiking, climbing and generally having outdoor adventures, art and crafts, and baking, just to name a few things.
