About Luis Armando Ruiz

As a bilingual clinical researcher, I have contributed to a multitude of clinical research projects in the fields of Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. My main research areas are psychoneuroimmunology and computational psychiatry with a specialized focus on mental health, trauma, grief, suicidality, and the connection between the body and mind. I am committed to advancing health equity and dedicated to serving diverse racial and/or ethnic communities. My work centers on advocating for inclusivity, dismantling systemic barriers, and promoting culturally-informed healthcare practices that foster equitable and effective outcomes for all. I am deeply passionate about generating clinical knowledge and interventions that meaningfully reduce health disparities and promote cultural humility. My experiences have led me to pursue my Masters in Social Work (MSW) with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in order to continue providing direct clinical care and conducting research to improve mental health and the integration of body-mind health services.
