About Luis Castillo

Entrepreneur, Artificial Intelligence Researcher and Full Professor of the University of Granada in Spain. I have always been focused on practical applications of Artificial Intelligence and, in particular, of Planning and Scheduling technologies, to real world and to be able to “engineer” real applications beyond academic or research prototypes. This always implies a multidisciplinary approach with special focus on the integration of different technologies and knowledge exchange and representation schemes. Additionally, it also means that I am always situated in the interface of several areas with many challenges coming from both sides of the sea, something that I particularly enjoy. As a consequence, but also very likely as a the origin of this, I strongly welcome coordinated, interdisciplinary teamwork, in which performance, but also shared responsibility and commitment of the members of the team are really valuable factors. As a researcher, activity which has not stopped while my stay at IActive, I have lead/participated in a series of international mainstream publications which can be found in my Google Scholar profile http://scholar.google.es/citations?hl=es & and I have been advisor of five PhD Dissertations. During my stay as Chief Technology Officer of IActive, I have focused on landing top Artificial Intelligence research technologies into real markets like emergency management, personalized medicine, tourism and elearning. By that time, the company has achieved several technological acknowledgements, such as the Gartner Cool Vendor in Business Process Management or the Workflow Management Coallition Award of Excellence of Adaptive Case Management in Healthcare, both in 2012. Owned Startups/Companies * IActive Intelligent Solutions (Spain) and its American subsidiary IActive US Corp (San José, California).* Doolphy (Spain).* Nativoo (Brazil), owned through IActive Intelligent Solutions.
