From a young age, my fascination with the natural world, particularly forests, ignited a lifelong passion for genetics and its profound impact on improving biological systems. This foundational interest led me to a career spanning over 15 years in Quantitative Genetics and Tree Breeding, and now as a Quantitative Geneticist at Genics in Brisbane. My expertise lies in leveraging advanced quantitative genetic methodologies to drive genetic improvement, estimate crucial genetic parameters, and predict breeding values. I've honed my skills in REML/BLUP methodology, enabling informed genotype selections across diverse traits including growth, wood properties, disease resistance, and adaptability. My proficiency extends to experimental design for field trials and the meticulous management of expansive measurement databases. Throughout my career, including significant contributions at Bioforest's Genetics Research division and during my Ph.D. in Forest Genetic Improvement from North Carolina State University, I've demonstrated a strong ability to analyze complex datasets, validate models through data simulation, and develop optimal breeding strategies. My doctoral research specifically focused on hybrid tree populations, refining estimation accuracy and reliability for quantitative genetic parameters. I am adept at utilizing robust data analysis tools such as R-Studio, ASReml, VBA in Excel, and SQL programming (SQL Server), allowing me to construct and tailor sophisticated models for precise genetic evaluations.
