About Luis Madriz

Started playing soccer at the age of 9, when I entered the Minor Soccer Academy of the University of the Andes (ULA), in Merida, Venezuela. In 1986 I was selected by the professional team of ULA, until I made my debut with them in 1987. In 1991, I continued with the professional team, and that same year we were champions in the Venezuelan Professional Soccer League. Also, I have been a player of the University Team, National University Champion and I was part of the state teams of the state of Merida and I belonged to the children's teams U9,U11, U13, U15, U17. In 1993, I was part of the Estudiantes de Merida soccer team, where I stayed for three years, to later join Atleticos Zulia, team with which I was champion during the Opening Tournament in 1997. Later, in 1998, I joined Caracas F.C(the club with the most history in Venezuela) as a reinforcement in the Pre Libertadores Cup. Besides, that same year I participated in the Venezuelan National Soccer Team for the Pre World Cup France 98. In I returned to Estudiantes de Merida to participate in the Merconorte Cup, then in we played the South American Cup, and in 2001 we were crowned champions in the Venezuelan Apertura Tournament. My retirement from Venezuelan professional soccer was in 2006, in the Italchacao team, where I played for 5 years. In the academic field, I am a Pharmacist graduated from the Universidad de Los Andes with a postgraduate degree in Drug Chemistry, in the Biotechnology Area. I am currently a coach of goalies in development, between the ages of 8 and 17 years old. Also, I currently work as a goalkeeper trainer at Georgetown High School in Texas and I belong to the coaching staff of Barcelona F.C. in Round Rock, Texas.
