About Luis Perez

I earned my Bachelors degree in EE from the University of Washington in 2011 and my Masters in EE from the same university in 2014. During my years at UW, I successfully completed courses in circuit design, PLL, EM, Optics, MEMs, Microwave among other topics. In my 4 years of research with Prof. Brian Otis, I learned many skills including: 130nm CMOS analog circuit design, optically-powered IC/PCB development, in-vivo optogenetics research and low-power LNA front-end design for sonar applications. After graduation, I joined Ossia and started working on a revolutionary wireless power technology called Cota. Starting as a hardware test engineer, I was a key member for testing and validating of a large and complex proof-of-concept system. During the evolution of the technology, I was fortunate to become an RF engineer and was able to offer significant contributions to the company in the following areas: Specifications and requirements definition for custom ASICs, designing 10+ layer boards in Altium Designer, development of custom AGC and phase calibration algorithms, bringup and testing of systems with hundreds of PAs/antennas and recently EMI compliance testing. Other useful skills relate to test automation with tools like Matlab, Python and Shell programs which are often interfaced with spectrum analyzers and signal generators. Also I have experience with EM simulation tools like HFSS, SiWave and AWR. In March of 2018, I was honored to be promoted to Sr. RF Engineer.
