About Luis Schaab

When I was a child, I discovered my love for coding when a neighbor lent us a Commodore 64 with coding magazines. I began by copying code snippets, but soon found myself modifying and experimenting with them, leading to my first "Hello world" program. In high school, I continued to hone my skills by creating simple websites and modifying my favorite games. I was fascinated by the idea of writing instructions for the computer and enjoyed the challenge of debugging when things didn't work out as expected. My passion for coding led me to my first job at a university laboratory, where I initially worked with PHP but was quickly drawn to the simplicity and power of Javascript. Over time, I expanded my knowledge and experience, learning about frontend frameworks such as EmberJS and React, and later exploring backend technologies like NodeJS, MongoDB, and the Serverless Stack. As my understanding of modern technologies grew, I developed a passion for using collaboration tools and good practices to create code that is robust, scalable, and easy to understand. I enjoy sharing knowledge with my colleagues, and as a result, I've provided training sessions on a range of topics, including ES6 features, Git, and ESLint. Outside of work, I enjoy tending to my urban garden and traveling with my wife to explore new places. Overall, I am passionate about creating software that is not only functional but also elegant and efficient. I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow in my field. Notable accomplishments- Developed a methodology that enhanced work efficiency and code quality, minimized deployment errors, and fostered better collaboration among team members- Devised a tool that streamlined product integrations for customers, resulting in a reduced need for development hours and enabling the company to expand its customer base- Optimized the performance of a sizable database by implementing query optimizations, adding indexes and views, and segregating data into historical tables.
