Background
About Luisa Jojic
I believe in the power of presence, and the beauty of each individual’s unique voice. In my coaching practice, I facilitate safe spaces to share techniques for the connection and exploration of your voice, expanding self understanding, expression, and confidence. Through over twenty years of performance, coaching and teaching, I have worked with all ages and diverse groups of individuals, supporting them on their journeys of personal and creative growth. I have worked as an instructor (Arts Umbrella, Bard on the Beach, Young Actor’s Project), Coordinator (Young Shakespeareans, Bard on the Beach) and Adjudicator (CDMF Performing Arts Festival, Magnum Opus International Speech and Drama Competition, Sunshine Coast Arts Festival, ZoneFest). I am a founding Teaching Artist of both the Riotous Youth Program and Bard In Your Neighbourhood at the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival. I was the Founder and Program Director of the True Voice Theatre Project at Creativa International, facilitating arts education programs that engaged at-risk youth, and individuals who have experienced homelessness or are currently vulnerably housed. For my work with youth, I have been awarded the PCRS Recognition Award, and was a nominee for Metro Vancouver’s 2016 Women of Distinction Awards in Arts, Culture and Design. I am also a Jessie, Betty Mitchell, and Ovation Award nominated performer, and have worked professionally in film, television and theatre since 2001 with such companies as: The National Arts Centre, The Vancouver Playhouse, The Vancouver Opera, The Arts Club, Bard on the Beach Theatre, The Richmond Gateway Theatre, Mitch and Murray Productions, Pi Theatre, Blackbird Theatre, Theatre Northwest, The Only Animal, Upintheair Theatre, The Playwright's Theatre Centre, CW Network,Fox Network, Ghostwood Films, and Clarity Pictures, among numerous others. I have twice toured the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit with original work and have performed in multi-media/installation performance work locally and abroad at the BC Buds Festival of Emerging Artists, LadyFest, Signal and Noise, the Out on Screen Festival, Vent Performance Fest in Brooklyn, NY, and the Fierenze Bienelle in Florence, Italy. Specialties: Coaching for Voice and Speech, Interview Preparation, Public Speaking, Group Facilitation, new-play development, character development, script analysis, classical text, voice, movement, singing, acting for stage and screen, and inter-disciplinary exploration.
