Hi there! My name is Lukas, and my job involves working with people. Democratic societies around the globe are confronted with multiple threats to their peaceful existence: the climate crisis, COVID-19, economic crashes, ongoing wars in the East and Middle East, radicalization among right-wing parties worldwide, rising fear of terrorism. —just a few examples of recent humanitarian crises. The feeling of powerlessness and/or hopelessness to change things for the better is so prevalent in today's society. However, there's no need to feel that way. What about a new perspective? You don't have to have graduated from an Ivy League university or be in a position of power to make a change. All you need are two ears to listen (or any other way of receiving information if you're a person with a hearing disability). Ultimately, we all share the common wish for our own story to be heard. We want to be seen for who we truly are. In other words, we have a desire to belong and to be valued. I refuse to believe that cynicism and populism can offer any constructive solution to the world's problems. We cannot afford to encounter each other with hatred or aversion. And that is my job. I encourage individuals to speak their truth, listen to them, and guide them on the path toward unlocking their full potential, without ever judging their stories."All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. And I don't need one. Because my superpower is my ability to communicate empathetically. Being a good listener has always helped me gain more insight into the fascinating human mind and break down the shackles of inter- and intrapersonal barriers. And who knows? Maybe these superpowers can help create a radical change toward a more optimistic future! 🤔
