About Lukas Schaup

As a landscape planner at PGNU i work at the intersection of nature and man. When i don't conduct field surveys, i consult with different stakeholders to define project goals, timelines and the legal framework. With more than three years of experience i bring a versatile skill set in planning and consulting. With my knowledge in geoinformations systems (GIS), remote sensing and programming in R, i am able to visualize my findings and prepare assessment reports, that are being used in drafting permits such as for windenergy and road construction projects, for example. Recently I finished my master's thesis in the FernEE project at the Competence Center Geoinformation (CCG), which is part of the Hessian State Office of Statistics. Within this project I developed a crop classification method for winter wheat, winter barley, winter rye and winter oil rapeseed, which is being used to monitor and ensure sufficient crop yields at the state and federal level. My long-term goal is to have a positive impact on the environment and society through my work and to create a better awareness for the part of nature, that we don't immediately see.
