Hello, my name is Luke Allan."A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"- an often misunderstood and misused phrase, when cut short. I pride myself on on this adage and have devoted myself to establishing my specialty as a generalist. I rarely find myself in a situation in which I am not confident in my ability to handle it. Why choose a pocket knife over a multitool. I have been a private-practice therapist for over 5 years. I use an eclectic approach and I am always researching, learning, and implementing best practices that I form fit to my clients. I aid my child, adolescent, and adult clients through a process of identifying a variety of problem areas within their lives, as well as assisting them in learning the skill of problem solving to relieve these issues. In my free time, I am a collector of hobbies and I am continuously seeking out and learning new skills, ranging from 3D modeling/printing, laser cutting, wood working, leather working, a variety of artistic mediums, such as digital and physical drawing and painting, learning instruments, including guitar, ukulele, and a bit of piano to name a few. Whenever I devote myself to something, I am relentless in my pursuit. I do not stop until I have developed a confidence and proficiency with a skill. As I full-stack engineer, I utilize many skills I honed, both in my career as a therapist, as well as my hobbies. As a therapist, I am required to practice problem-solving and critical thinking to understand and help clients overcome challenges and apply this in programming better comprehend and confront logic, troubleshooting/debugging, and implementing creative solutions. Therapy also requires a great deal of adaptability, resilience, and patience. Client's issues might not always be obvious and might take time, effort, and stamina. Software engineering parallels these needs with similarly complex logical problems that may be elusive and challenging. Mixed with my commitment to a task and overcoming countless barriers in learning all of my hobbies, I have accrued a tool box full of the perfect tools for software engineering, and potentially the more important ability of knowing how to find the answers if I don't know them, and the humility to seek them out effectively as possible.
