About Luke Alvey

As an analytical scientist at Pfizer, I qualify and validate mRNA vaccines and protein based therapeutics to ensure product safety and efficacy and to improve their analytical methods and manufacturing processes. I primarily use HPLC (RP, A/CEX, SEC, CAD) and CE methods. I develop and validate new methods, including automation of assays to replace costly manual assays and the replacement of assay reagents to comply with REACH guidelines. I am skilled at the analyses and interpretation of data, reporting results to regulatory bodies when required. I previously worked at Abbott Diagnostics for over four years as a Technical Support Scientist and Senior Technical Support Scientist, where I progressed diagnostic assay reagents through product updates to enhance their performance and cost-effectiveness. I conducted investigations into product performance and worked closely with other departments to ensure timely project completion. I also updated and reviewed product risk files, documentation and labelling to comply with the new EU In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) legislation. I have earned a PhD (Neuroscience) and a first class honours undergraduate degree (Neuroscience) from UCD. I have perfected numerous laboratory techniques, have a strong grasp of experimental design and data analysis, and have developed excellent critical thinking skills. I am dependable, enthusiastic and driven to succeed, learn and grow, and work very well with teams to achieve project deliverables within target timelines.
