About Luke An

Sometimes I ask myself why I’ve spent years trying to build a “home” in a place no one has ever set foot on. Over the years, I’ve stood alone in vacuum chambers, watching lunar regolith crack under thermal stress, and stayed up rewriting system integration reports at 2 a.m. just to perfect a joint that could survive -200°C. Designing a habitat for the Moon isn’t like building a house on Earthit’s solving a thousand life-or-death problems no one’s solved before. There were countless momentsduring testing, arguments between disciplines, or field deployments in the desertwhen I asked myself, “Is this really worth it?” But then I’d look around at the engineers beside me, all fighting to make one pressure valve just a little more reliable, and I’d remember: we’re not just building structures. We’re trying to give the future a place to breathe. I’m not the loudest in the room, or the one chasing fame. I’ve just fallen down enough times, kept going, and figured out how to get hard things done. Maybe that stubbornnessthe quiet need to finish what I startedis the most honest thing I can leave behind
