Background
About Luke Arnold
Luke's mission is to eradicate white (body) supremacy by advancing trauma-informed care and creating cultures of belonging. Luke is a thought leader, facilitator/trainer, and speaker who specializes in the intersection of Trauma-Informed care with racial equity and multiple diversities, particularly in helping with equity trans Luke (he/him) has an MA from George Fox University and has over 10 years of experience in the field of I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities), most recently as a Supervisor for Lane County Government. He is a Trauma-Informed Care Trainer certified by Trauma Informed Oregon and since 2020 he has been co-facilitating trauma-informed trainings for Lane County employees. He is an equity innovator at Lane County. For two years (2020-2022) he was on the interdepartmental team that developed the Lane County Equity Lens. In 2023, he has been on the planning and transition team for the Lane County Health and Human Services department as they are currently moving from a traditional (hierarchical) DEI committee structure to an Equity Core Team and Change Teams model. In 2023 Luke has been a guest presenter at multiple conferences. At the ICMA (International City/County Management Association) virtual Equity Summit in July, he co-presented "Lessons Learned from Operationalizing Equity: Navigating Diverse Perspectives and Identities in Implementing an Equity Lens Toolkit" with Latiffe Amado (Equity Manager at Lane County). Then at the 2023 ODHS/ODDS I/DD Case Management Conference he presented "Trauma-Informed Care and the Oregon Needs Assessment" and co-presented "Applying an Equity Lens to Developmental Disabilities Services" with Kori Rodley (Equity and Strategic Planning Coordinator at Lane County Developmental Disabilities). Luke is a husband and a parent to two kids (age 7 and 5). In his free time he enjoys being physically active, including bicycling, hiking, and trail running. He enjoys playing board games, and is an avid basketball fan, which at some point translated into being a high school basketball referee.
