About Luke Buettner

After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May of 2024 with a Bachelor's of Science In Business Administration, I started full time as an Actuarial Associate at Ameritas in Product Development. This followed two prior internships at Ameritas. First, on the Actuarial Risk Modeling team helping analyze the company's products for regulators by performing cash flow testing, risk based capital analysis, price behavior curve calculations, among other necessary measures. My next rotation was on the Life Product Development team, focusing on performing benchmarking to support Life pricing work. However, on this team I was able to get exposure to directly supporting repricing efforts for various fixed indexed annuities, helping perform sensitivity testing and compiling results.Currently, as a full time member of the Product Development team I have been focused on helping provide insights into sources of profitability. That has been done through centralizing Universal Life products into a single Prophet model to more easily perform updates and understand our current book of business. I have also, with the guidance of others, developed an engine using Python to valuate our Indexed Life and Annuity products, calculating the market value of the daily market value of the liabilities as well as the assets bought to back them. As an Actuarial Student I have recently completed all my ASA requirements, excluding the APC, and am awaiting results for Exam PA and the ATPA Assessment as of April 2025. While waiting for results, I am working on the FSA modules in preparation to works towards the FSA credential.
